Electro 7 are an interesting mixed bag ofmadness.
A Mexican, Cuban and Italian combine tocreate the sounds of Cuba merged withPsychedelic Electronica, Reggae, Hip Hop andDrum and Bass and then twisted into popmusic!
Electro 7 have been around a few years but itwasn't until band leader Dr Panic (Melovskys)hooked up with long time friend andtraditional Cuban musician, Raul Oviedo, thattheir sound started to take shape. They thenbought in pop producer Paolo Marcellini andthe band was complete. All three have beenvery busy session and touring musicians orhad other band projects taking up their timebut in the last year the focus has been onthis exciting new band and they are quicklypicking up a fan base in Mexico and majorlabel interest throughout America.
The idea behind the band is to createsoulful, contemporary Cuban music whileexperimenting with electronic sounds. Afusion of different cultures in music thatwhen blended would give something completelynew and rewarding. The sound is still veryauthentic and at times is pure Cuban 'Son'and it really hits the spot. But when DrPanic adds his skills from his technoproduction experience, what we are left withis a very fresh sound that is an amazing mixof exotic latin rhythms and vocals from sunbleached, rum soaked Havana back streets withcool, contemporary, electronic, urban soundsfrom Mexico City's burgeoning dance musicculture.
So light up a Cohiba, order a Mojito, put thecd on and turn it up. Electro 7 are thesoundtrack for your summer. This is theHabana-delic Gozadera Expereience.
